The femur extends from the hip to the patella. So measure from your hip to the knee. The tibia extends from the patella to the ankle. So measure from the knee to the "ankle bone".
The gluteus maximus extends the at hip at thigh (as in walking or climbing stairs). It inserts on the femur (the insertion).
The femur bone is the largest bone in the human body. It extends from the hip to the knee.
Quadriceps muscles are attached to the tibia via patella. Patella is a sesamoid bone. On the other the three of the four muscles are attached to the femur bone. Rectus femoris is attached to the hip bone as well. So it can act on hip bone also. Other way round it can take support of hip bone to act on tibia. Other three muscles are specially designed to act on tibia bone only. They are originated from femur bone.
Is fracture of the femur the same as fracture of the hip? Yes
The strongest Flexor of the hip (thigh) is illiopsoas muscle which is the merger of the illiacus and the psoas major muscle. The illiacus is on the medial side of the pelvic bone attaching to the femur and the psoas major muscle attaches from the lumbar vertebrae to the femur.
The scientific name for the hip bone is the "os coxae" or "innominate bone."
The Femur is the bone that goes from your hip down to your knee. Femur length would mean how long the Femur is.
