Mt. Etna in Sicily was undergoing a minor eruption earlier this week.
I found a website that listed 8. We have already had 22 in 2008. See this link: http://www.volcano.si.edu/world/find_eruptions.cfm So many volcanoes erupted in the world that nobody knows, they couldn't count how many volcanoes erupted since the beginning of the world
Volcanoes have been erupting on the Earth a very Long time so no one on Earth at this very moment will not know.
yes there is one in washington state that erupted in 1980 called mt st helens
almost the whole world will be filled with lava and ashes.
There are so many but you are most likely talking about Eyjafjallajökull.
Active Volcanoes - Those volanoes which has erupted in the recent history and will continue to erupt further is known as an active volcano. Dormant Volcanoes - Those volcanoes which hasn't erupted in the recent past but has the capability of erupting in the future. These volcanoes generally erupt after long intervals of time. Extinct Volcanoes - These volcanoes used to erupt but hasn't erupted in the recent past and will probably not erupt further. There are actually only 3 types of volcanos, while one can be called two things. The first kind is called shield, it is almost shaped like an upside down bowl. The second is called a cinder cone, it's sides are a little more steep and instead of squirting out just lava, its squirts out pyroclastic material also and it has moderately explosive eruptions. The last is known as a composite or a stratovolcano, with quite steep sides.
There are hundreds of active volcanoes in the world, a few of which are in Hawaii. The most active Hawaiian volcano, Kilauea, is one of the most active in the world.
An active volcano is one that is currently in a state of regular eruptions; it likely would have erupted in the last few decades. A dormant volcano is one that is capable of erupting but hasn't erupted in a long time.
Active (erupts a lot) Dormant (hasn't erupted much lately) and extinct (hasn't erupted in at least one hundred years) not sure if there are any more x
Mount Ruapehu is our notable one which has erupted in recent years.
The second eruption is called a reawakening or re-eruption.Most volcanoes erupt multiple times over the course of their lifespan; the period during which a volcano doesn't erupt is called its dormant period or dormancy.
An inactive volcano - is one that has not erupted since people started keeping records. There are volcanoes on earth that have never erupted in recorded history. Others have erupted a long time ago (say - more than a hundred years), but they're classed as dormant.
