james monroe
"Latin America" is more than one nation- in fact, it includes most of Central America and all of South America. The population of ALL of those countries is about 604 million. The population of the US is about 320 million. 284 million more people in the Latin American nations.
Theodore Roosevelt's Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine held that the United States had a right to intervene in Latin American affairs. It considered the United States a police power of sorts, and saw Latin America as a way to expand America's economic interests.

Latin America is about 2.5 times the size of the Continental US. The population of Latin America is almost twice the size of the Continental US. Latin America is also much more religious, and the overwhelming majority is Catholic. Latin America's major languages include Spanish, Portuguese, French, and English while the Continental US's major languages include English, Spanish, French, and German. However, the Continental US is much more developed than Latin America and has a larger urban population.
