I'll invite the local cavers to expand specifically but the joy - and often frustration - of original cave exploration is that you have no real idea until you find it. Yes, you can predict that extensions to a cave may exist, but you cannot be sure till you reach them.
There's an old Somerset (S.W. England) cavers' dictum (actually I know who coined it), that, "Caves be where you find 'em!"
That's as true in Carlsbad Caverns or the Flint Ridge - Mammoth system as it is on the saying's home territory of the more modest Mendip Hills.

No reference to life in the cave - but it lost credibility to me by a glaring error which gave the Tertiary cave's age as that of its "4,000,000 centuries old" Silurian host limestone! Like many show-cave owners, Luray's publicists seem a bit shy on telling us too many interesting technical facts about their caves, but I learnt Luray has a famous fudge factory & shop! So it looks as if you'll have to track down formal papers by cave-biologists to know for sure what lives in Luray Caverns. However as it is a significant cave in a temperate climate I imagine it has its quota of at least aquatic and non-aquatic cave-dwelling invertebrates and micro-flora. It might also be used by bats?
