The European Social class in the renaissance period was the birth of humanism. Most people in this time started to decline the teachings and preachings of the church and started thinking on their own. The time was also separated into many division classes based on wealth.

At the top of the system were the gentry of upper class individuals. Then followed the middle class citizens, who were merchants, shopkeepers, skilled artisans, minor officials, etc. Lastly, at the bottom of society were laborers, soldiers, and servants.
The jobs women in the middle class did during the Renaissance varied depending on their families. Many worked as assistants for their male family member's businesses like merchantry, artisanry, cobbling, sewing, and the like.

In the renaissance class differences were not such a big deal. In the renaissance you were viewed for what you did, rather than where you came from as it was in the middleages.

This final group probably made up one fourth to one third of the urban population during the Renaissance. Finally, there were the domestic slaves even though there were very few of them.

The social classes emerged stronger, that is, middle class became stronger and thus expanded economically and politically while the lower class began to exert themselves.

During the English Renaissance lower class people would have traveled by foot but only as needed since the roads were dangerous. Middle and upper class people, often with guards, were able to travel by coach and horse. Travel by boat was also an option whether on the sea or a river.
There were several different social classes in Philadelphia during the colonial period. The top class decided on laws and regulations, the next was considered the gentry. Gentry ran most everything. Under the gentry were the middle class and then the lower class.
