Loose or glazed fan belt?
The belt(s) are probably too loose or too tight. Either way will cause noise.
No. If you think you are hearing noise from a fan clutch have it checked. My guess the noise you are hearing is comming from the water pump. Either way this needs checked out. Sugestion; take the serpitine belt off ( fan belt ). See if the fan clutch has a bit too much movement. If so it could be going bad & need replaced. Most times a water pump will leak before it makes noise, due to the seal being tore up by the shaft. Check them both.
All fans will make a "whooshing noise" If there is a squeaking or grinding noise the fan motor needs to be replaced/refurbished.
No, I have had to replace mine numerous times, and have never had abnormal noise.
It sounds like the fan belt is slipping. Try tightening up the fan belt, or try rubbing resin on the fan belt to give it more friction.
loose or glazed fan belt.
My car, a 2008 Audi A4 Turbo was experiencing a cyclical chirping noise, similar to a noisy fan belt ( which it does not have). A defective PCV valve was found , however, the car after being repaired is still making that noise.
An alternator has fast moving parts surrounded by air, so it will make a noise in operation, in much the same way a desk fan makes a noise. (The fan blades spinning in air.)Under heavy load (battery fully flat) this noise often becomes very slightly louder, due to increased tension in the drive belt causing increased loading on the bearings and the belt, but it would not normally be enough to notice unless tryingto notice it.If the noise is very noticeable it is probably because one of the items the belt runs on has a bearing in the early stages of failure.
It depends on the noise. If it is a squealing noise it is probably a loose belt and needs to be replaced. Check the back of the belt if it is "glazed" meaning slippery and shiny then replace the belt.
It could mean the beginning of the end for your belt or the idler pulley, have them both checked out.
depending on how low it is, it is either the fan rubbing against the casing or the belt that turns the fan coming loose.
