loose or glazed fan belt.
It could be the bearing in your tension pulley.
It could be the presence of water on pulleys causing the belts to slip. If it is persistent then this is a sign of worn-out or misaligned belts.
A used Ford Explorer Sport Trac could be purchased from a multitude of used car dealerships, depending on the area. One could also do a search on Autotrader, as well as through the Ford web site.
lack of oil
The squeal you speak of is belt related, yes; but it is not the belt. There is a belt tensioner ( the part you had to pull up to remove and replace the belt). Inside this tensioner, the bearing goes bad causing the squealing sound you describe. Replace the tensioner (pulley or assembly) and the noise will go away.
Could also be a bad bearing in one of the belt driven accessories i.e. alternator, water pump, P.s. pump, a/c compressor etc.
If your blower is only working on the high setting its most likely the fan blower resistor that needs replacing, which is a cheap fix. I've had to replace the resistor on both my 98 Jeep Sport and my little 94 Mazda MX-3. As for the squealing I think its most likely your belt needs replacing or re-tightening, or it could be a worn bearing on the water pump.
No. Their functional differences prevent installation. However, the 99 Ford Escort trans will fit in the back of the Ford Explorer to transport it.
Yes. It could make it better or worse.
