Can you use light brown sugar instead of regular brown sugar?

I really dont understand the question here, but both regular white sugar as well as light brown sugar is used in baking, it just depends on the recipe. Light brown sugar has less of the "molasses" flavour than darker brown sugar. Both of them can and are used in baking. There are a number of "grades" or "darknesses" of brown sugar and as the colour darkens the flavour becomes more intense. If your recipe needs the punch of a darker sugar then go ahead and use it. The colour has no effect other than taste in baking.

Can you substitute granulated sugar for brown sugar?

= Brown Sugar Substitute = For each 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar called for in a recipe, use 1 1/2 tablespoons molasses plus 1 cup granulated sugar. To make light brown sugar from dark brown sugar, use 1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar and 1/2 cup granulated sugar. For dark brown sugar, use 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar plus 1 tablespoon molasses; or 1 cup granulated sugar plus 1/4 cup molasses.

What is graduated sugar?

This is new to me, I had to look it up, it is plain white granulated sugar. Sugar has several different appellations for grading. confectioner's or powdered or frosting (icing) sugar. often 10x but has 2 other grades. Baker's special sugar, or ultra fine, or bar sugar. pulverized or caster's sugar, or superfine granule. Fruit sugar (used in shelf mixes), or fine granule. granulated, table sugar or graduated sugar. coarse, pearl, decorating or sugar crystals. Also there are different grades of brown sugars and molasses. Raw, turbanado, muscovado, golden or natural cane sugar light and dark brown sugars (mix of white sugar and molasses) demerara sugar is a light brown sugar light treacle or cane syrup or golden syrup (unpressed cane) Barbados molasses ( the first pressing) 2nd, 3rd, 4th pressings or plain or unsulfered molasses, dark treacle Blackstrap molasses, black treacle Note: Invert sugar (liquid) is a mix of sucrose(table sugar) with fructose and glucose

Does the Philippines export sugarcane?

Yes. Also sugar and molasses.

What happens if you take off molasses from a recipe?

That really depends on the recipe. In most recipes that call for molasses, leaving it out will change the flavor dramatically. Also if something is not substituted to replace the molasses, you may find the result lacking a sweetness. Often molasses can be replaced by half as much brown sugar, or even honey which results in a sweeter, less bitter taste. It can also be replaced by sorghum syrup, a substance similar in flavor to molasses, but made from sorghum grain as opposed the sugar cane.

Why do you need sugar in cookies?

In baking, brown sugar essentially does the same thing as regular table sugar does. In fact, brown sugar is white sugar, only with molasses added. The molasses adds a certain color, a little more sweetness and moisture, and a little different taste, but by and large, the brown sugar does the same job as regular sugar in baking.

Is brown sugar wheat free?

Yes, or at least it should be. Brown sugar has no relationship with wheat. It comes from the sugarcane plant, just like all other sugar. brown sugar is just like white sugar, yet it has a lot more molasses in it than white sugar. Also it is stickier and can have a slightly bitter taste to it. as far as my knowledge goes, wheat and sugarcane are unrelated so brown sugar and wheat must be unrelated. hope this helps.

Difference between yellow sugar and brown sugar?

basically just the color. dark brown is made with darker molasses. it will make whatever your making come out a darker color than if you use light brown. but they taste essentially the same, brown tastes a little more mollasses-y but when it's mixed with other things the final product tastes the same as if you used light brown.

What is the difference between refined sugar and cane sugar?

Refined sugar can be made from cane sugar. Cane sugar refers to a sugar made form the grass called "sugar cane". Sugar can also be made from "sugar beet". "Refined sugar" refers to the fact that the sugar juice has been processed and cleans to form a white crystalline product. You can also purchase "unrefined sugar" which will be brown in colour (and is nearly always made from sugar cane).
