Microwaves have lots of uses, some commercial (such as microwave ovens, satellite TV, and weather radar) and some military (such as missile guidance systems), applications in the field of scientific research, microwaves monitor the environmental health of our planet as well as to learn more about the universe. Research scientists use microwaves in two types of systems: active and passive. In active systems, such as radars, scientists send out microwaves and examine what comes back. In passive systems scientists simply look for naturally occurring microwaves and use them to learn more about the objects that emit the waves.

What devices commonly affect wireless LANS?

Wireless Phones and Microwaves.

Do microwaves use microwaves?

Microwaves are radio waves with frequencies above 3 GHz. They are used to communicate great volumes of information over distances up to 100 miles, at data rates up to several hundred megabits per second per carrier. Certain high-power devices use UHF radio waves to boil water and heat meatloaf. They are marketed under the generic name "microwave ovens" and referred to as "microwaves" by the population at large, even though they use radio waves at 2.45 GHz and, technically, fall 550 MHz short of rights to the title.

What is the difference between microwaves in ovens and microwaves used in phones and satellite tv?

nothing really, they are just put in different devices to make them perform different jobs.

What are the sources of microwave?

The main sources of microwaves are electronic devices called magnetrons or solid-state devices like klystrons or traveling wave tubes. These devices generate microwaves through the oscillation of electrons in a magnetic or electric field. Microwaves are also naturally produced by astronomical sources such as the Sun and other celestial bodies.

What is maser and laser?

Do microwaves use infrared technology?

Microwaves are close to infrared so much of the technology is similar.

When is microwaves on an electromagnetic spectrum used in everyday lives?

It is transmitted from everyday objects but is not visible to humans. Microwaves come off our TV sets, cell phones, and all electronic devices. We cannot see microwaves because of their location on the electromagnetic spectrum, but they are always present.
