I believe the engine is a Detroit Diesel 170. The truck has about 900K in miles on it. I've always used Mobil Delvac, but someone told me that I was wasting my money. Any suggestions?
A 2002 Ford F250 truck uses 5W-20 oil. It should be full synthetic only. It can hold up to 6 quarts.
You should change your oil in your new truck every three thousand miles at least. You should check your oil once in a while. If its a new truck check oil every month.
Look at the rear or side of the oil pan
lucas oil
You should change engine oil in car or truck every 5,000 miles.
Correct me if im mistaken but doesnt it go into a hydraulic oil reservoir? Should be where your brake booster reservoir is.Or if ur obviously talking about hydraulic oil for accesories like a dump truck there should be a tank that delivers oil to a hydraulic pump somewhere on the frame.
"Butterscotch" oil means water in the oil - cracked head or bad head gasket
Need to know if it is a 2 wheel drive or a 4 wheel drive truck and what engine it has, it matters.
Typically, around 15 - 20k. If you have a lot of idle time (e.g., a dump, boom, grapple, cherry picker, etc. truck), you might even want to go 10k.
With a grease gun, every oil change.
It should not be.
