Synthetic Oil
I have a '98 disco and I believe the light you are talking about is an emission light. it could also be your check engine light but I think that one is red. the emission light comes on at certain mileage point. I think it's 60k and 105k. It can be reset by removing the kick panel on passenger side right side floor level. Remove the kick panel, you will find a small box tucked in the back corner with a land rover sticker over it. there is a small hole under the sticker. Push a small Allen wrench though the hole to short two pins out and reset the light. I believe the ignition needs to be on. A great resource of land rovers is discoweb.org and you should be able to find almost any answer you need for disco's there.
The value of Gas Turbine Oil should be 6.
The low oil cut off switch should be on the side of the oil pan. It is built into the oil pressure switch.
valve oil
On my 1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo it is on the front right of the engine. There should be a picture of an oil can on the cap with the words fill oil here or something along that line on it.
The best oil for a Land Rover is usually a synthetic oil like Valvoline.
8 quarts of 5/30w for an oil change
10w30
Should be a cap or breather or something that comes off on 1 of the valve covers.
what type of oil for lr2
7.7 liters of oil
A 2003 Land Rover Freeland V6 takes a total of 5 quarts of motor oil. This includes the oil contained within the engine, oil pan, and oil filter.
best answer i can give you is to go to the land rover forum and search there. they should even have a link to a download-able copy of the land rover service repair manual
8.2
Range Rovers all typically take 5W-30. If you are still unsure, the oil reservoir cap should have specs on the top of it telling you what is best for your specific engine.
To answer the question of what grade and how many quarts a Disco 2 takes. If it has the 4.6 V8 engine it takes Factory recommends 5W30 and I would recommend using Castrol oil. That is what it came with from factory. And takes 6 quarts of oil.I would get the Land rover oil filter or a MANN filter. They are made to factory specs and won't cause you problems down the road.
5.9 litres my friend.
