Jupiter was once thought to be a "failed star". However, we now realise that it's

nowhere near massive enough. It would need to have about ten times more mass

even to be a "brown dwarf". To be a true star, with nuclear fusion, it would need to have about 80 times more mass. Then it could become a "red dwarf" star.

There are no star-like planets in our solar system, however there are many extrasolar (that means they aren't orbiting our sun) objects that are on the verge of a definition of a sun and a planet, and they are called Brown Dwarfs, and are large gas objects that do not have enough mass to maintain nuclear fusion (which powers our sun and all stars).

No planet is a star. A star is a massive ball of hydrogen and helium creating energy by nuclear fusion. A planet is an object that revolves around a star. See related for more information

No planet is considered a star! Any burning mass is a star, such as the sun or OGLE-TR-122b. A planet is a solid mass.

Jupiter, although it would only be a super tiny star since it's 9/1000th's the mass of our sun
