Rudolf is not mentioned in the tale. if you read closely it seems to imply that shape-and-size shifting ( rather like Brick Bradford"s Time top) is part of Santa"s Bag of tricks ( sorry, Felix). and he can alter the dimensions of the entire entourage- so to get down the chimney- not eight TINY reindeer.
