plants and insects
Plants and insects belong to more than one food chain
The term 'food web' is better than 'food chain' because the food web shows more paths of what an organism can eat, while the food chain only focuses on one path.
Think of the game Jenga. The smaller the organism, the more it will effect the food chain. So it really depends on the organism.
Generally the lower in a food chain an organism is the more abundant it is.
generally: larger organisms are higher on the food chain as they have more ability to consume/chase/hunt/forage, etc.
There is no advantage as all animals are involved in both food chains and food webs. The only difference is through the fact that food webs are more complex and supply more information then a food chain.
This is a hard queston I would think that the animals before it would have to find a new food source or die out them selves but this is why a food web is more real world than a food chain in the food chain anything after the one that some how just went away they would die off as well
There are various sources (such as heat, nutrients, etc.) and they are processed in many ways. In many cases the first organism in a chain lives off of the wastes of the high animals of the chain.Would need a specific chain to be able to answer more definitively.
the difference between the food chain and the food web is the food chain is the linear transfer of energy from one organism to the next. And the food web is the complex interconnecting food chains in a community.
the organism links the two food webs and combines them into a larger one. This also means the two food webs are in the same ecosystem or are the same type of ecosystem
A food chain shows food energy moving from organism to organism. A pyramid ofnumbers show how many organisms were involved in each level of food chain. Food chains always begin with the sun as the source of energy and the pyramid of numbers always has the producer as the base. Pyramid of numbers have more producers at the bottom than consumers at the top.The similarities are that they both are models and they both have the same organisms. They both have top consumers and they both show how energy is passed down from organism to organism.
