The league of nations failed to prevent it, but so did a lot of other people and nations.
The League of Nations was the peace-keeping body that failed to prevent war. The organization was founded on January 10, 1920 at the end of the First World War.

The WTO (World Trade Organization)
The World Trade Organization was formed in order to promote free trade.
It was hoped that the United Nations could succeed where the League of Nations (formed after WWI) had failed. The UN has not been perfect in preventing wars, but, there has been no WWIII since 1945.
■Because without WW2 the UN would have never been formed. After WW1 they tried something similar (The League of Nations) but the United States didn't take part and it failed miserably. The UN was formed to stop wars and WW2 gave the world a vivid reason as to why such an organization should be formed.
The League of Nations was the organization established after World War I in 1919 to promote peace and prevent future conflicts. It aimed to facilitate diplomacy and cooperation among countries, addressing issues such as disarmament, conflict resolution, and social justice. Despite its efforts, the League struggled with enforcement and ultimately failed to prevent the outbreak of World War II.
