The United Nations is a highly successful institution and in ares where it has failed it has been more often than not because of interference by countries like the United States and former Soviet Union, who wanted to secure their own interests; instead of looking out for the greater good of the people of the World. It is not in the interest of the United States to leave the United Nations, as that would only reduce their influence in the world; to the benefit of their rival nations.

OPEC, or the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, is an intergovernmental organization made up of oil-producing countries. OPEC aims to coordinate and unify petroleum policies among its member nations to ensure the stabilization of oil markets and secure a steady supply of oil to consumers.
The main goal of the UN is to keep a safe and secure world now that after World War II lots of countries have the atom bomb. They want to basically stop World War III from happening.
