Neither. The main cavity is called the abdominopelvic cavity. A sub-cavity inside that is the pelvic cavity. That is where you will find the organs of reproduction. The dorsal cavity is along your back and skull. The thoracic is where your heart and lungs are. The abdominal cavity is a sub-cavity of the abdominopelvic cavity, its where your stomach and other related organs are.
Digestive System: You may be wondering that the organs in the digestive system are located in the abdominal cavity. True, but the esophagus, the tube that carries food to the stomach is located in the thoracic cavity. The thymus or thyroid gland is also a part of the organs in the pectoral cavity. The thoracic cavity contains the heart and the whole of the cardiovascular system. It also houses the respiratory and digestive system including the esophagus. It also has the nervous system, the endocrine glands, and the lymphatic's. The thoracic cavity contains and protects vital organs and bones. The thoracic cavity contains the heart, lungs, ribs, and the sternum.
The ventral cavity is subdivided into 2 other cavities, the thoracic cavity and abdominopelvic cavity which are separated by the diaphragm.
