There are several bones: ribs (24), sternum, thoracic vertebrae that protect the heart and the lungs and several other organs.
The breastbone or sternum protect the heart. The ribs also help protect the organs in the chest including the lungs.
The rib cage and the sternum helps to protect the heart and its surrounding organs.
Your ribs are the bones that protect your heart.
The sternum protects some of your major organs like the hart and lungs, it also provides support to both organs and your whole body!!!
The rib cage, sternum, and spine worth together to protect the vital organs of the thoracic cavity. The ribs, in particular, form a cage in which the lungs are located.
The sternum IS a bone.
They contain and support the lungs, and (along with the sternum, or breastbone) provide additional structural protection for the heart and other organs.
The rib cage protects the lungs, liver, and other soft organs.
well the ribs protect the lungs and i think the heart.
I guess one could think of the sternum as the "backbone" that holds the ribs together, keeps them in place. The sternum and ribs are a cage like system that protects your heart and lungs from injury. Your ribs are also contected to your spine. Imagine not having any rib cage at all!
