None, they are dominant creatures you can rarely put them in a tank with another fish. Not sure about a female one with a male but still not best to be tried with. ;)
Betta fish can refer to any member of the genus Betta, which has numerous species, all native to swamps of Southeast Asia. The Siamese fighting fish is only one specific species, B. splendens.
the Betta or Siamese fighting fish
Well beta or Siamese fighting fish have no gills so they surface breathe ..
There are no fighting fish that come from Japan. I think you are asking about the Siamese fighting fish (Betta splendens). They do naturally have a round stomach almost like a ball. That is their body shape.
i think like 300 but sometimes even 500 eggs at a time!
No Gold fish like water around 65F Siamese fighters need around 75F. They are totally incompatible.
These are tropical fish that like their water warm. Betta are best kept at 26 to 28 degrees Celsius.
Small insects like pinhead crickets may suffice, but fish food is recommended.
The main predators apart from man are the fish eating water birds like Kingfishers, Herons and Egrets.
Siamese Fighting Fish are available at most pet stores. Petco, Petsmart, even Walmart. But I would suggest looking at a local pet store or fish shop, one that is like a small business just not a franchise. Small local pet stores tend to take better care of their fish. You should find them in the fish section, in little plastic cups. I would recommend keeping them in half gallon or more containers, preferably with a lid but with plenty of ventilation because Siamese Fighting Fish breathe at the surface.
Well, I don't know for sure... But it is animal cruelty! How would you like to fight to the death for someone else's please! Please THINK and USE your BRAIN. p.s. I have a betta named Frodo lol.
maybe you can put a non-aggressive fish that if physically provoked by the fighting fish it can defend itself. or fast moving fish like goldfish so it can outrun the fighting fish. when feeding your fishes they usually move quick, putting their mouths above water. however, the betta doesn't. and they can get easily annoyed when other fish bump them. so,I recommend the angelfish.
