The Mandan and Hidatsa tribes lived in villages along the northern and eastern parts of the Sioux region. The Blackfeet lived along the northern and western edges. The Shoshone, Ute, Yap and many other tribes lived along the Rocky Mountains. The Osage lived immediately south of the South domain. Many tribes lived east of the Sioux region.
There were no fixed borders. Many other Native American tribes came to the Sioux to trade or raid for bison. The Flathead (Kootenai), Nez Pierce, Paiute, Dine Navajo, Goshute, and Arapahoe tribes all traded with the Sioux on their western edge.
Pawnee, Kiowa, Kansa, and Otoe tribes held the central and southern plains areas south of the Sioux.

Some old Sioux folklore roughly date to around 1500, but those might have been stories told from other tribes.
The tribes that are still active are the Sioux Tribe. The other tribes are not that active. But the Sioux tribe is the most active tribe out of all of them.
The Indian tribes went to war with each other for Revenge, more recruits for their tribe and for Horses.

The Sioux were opportunistic hunter gatherers, like most other Native American tribes. To translate, they ate what they could hunt, catch, farm or pick - Buffalo, Elk, Deer, Cherries and potatoes just to name a few. The Sioux Indians used to eat the buffalo that the men hunted and the women cooked over a fire. All parts of the buffalo were used: None was wasted. A buffalo tongue was a delicacy for the Sioux Indians.
The plains Sioux traded furs, buffalo hides, and horses. The East coast Sioux traded poop, The Saponi Sioux was one of the main traders among the East coast indians.
Comanche Indians ARE Plains Indians. The difference is that while the Comanche lived on the Southern Plains (Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado,) other tribes such as the Sioux lived in Wyoming, Montana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and the Dakotas (the Upper Plains.)
Occasionally different Chinook groups would fight wars against each other, or against other Northwest Coastal tribes.
The Sioux nation was originally called the Dakota. Eventually the Dakota broke off into 3 groups known as Dakota, Lakota, and Nakota. The East coast Sioux tribes came from the Nakota tribe. The East coast Sioux tribes had two main Nations known as the Saponi and the Catawba. The name Sioux refers to all tribes which spoke of the Siouan language (the variations of this language varies from tribe to tribe). One of the most famous Sioux groups was known as the Lakota. The Lakota, Dakota, Nakota, Saponi, and Catawba all was made up of many other tribes. It is known that some of the Creek Indians even spoke a form of the Siouan language.
