Owls do make their own nests. In fact they look alot like birds nest's but bigger.
it nests on the ground with no trees in the artic
This happens a lot with owls. If a flock of birds thinks the owl is disturbing them or especially if there is a nest nearby the flock/mother&father will chase the owl screaming and attacking it, just to keep it away from the nest. In this case there were probably multiple nests and all the birds decided to chase him away from there.
they eat birds and other rodents and also other owls?
The great horned owl lives in a nest. But it doesn't build the nest it uses things like former nests from red tailed hawks and squirrels nests, they also use hallows in trees. They can adapt to many locations and climates such as cities to mountains to woodlands to plains.
no.. owls live in nests.. :)
They owl is the only one of those that uses camoflauge. The owl butterfly uses its "eye" to scare away the birds that try to eat it. Most types of owls have feather coloring that helps it blend in with trees and things while it sleeps.
Yes but only until the hawk realizes it's fake. Even though they are only 3-5 lbs, Great horned owls are at the top of the bird food chain. Even bald eagles have surrendered their nests to these owls.
There are two owl families..Tytonidae, barn owls, and Strigidae, all other species. Owls are birds of prey.
They make nests in large, dead trees.
Elf Owls live in saguaro cactus. Pygmy Owls also nest in saguaro and organ pipe cacti.
The Snowy Owl affects the environment by keeping control of the population of its prey. (hares, rodents, ducks, and small birds.)
