Bluestar dies in book 6 for the original series. She dies for various reasons including shock from a fall, inhaling water, and just being old. Just before dying it is revealed that she has regained her sanity, having died to save Fireheart.

In which book does Bluestar die?
Bluestar dies in the fifth book of the first series and in the prologue of Bluestar's quest. She died because when Tigerstar was still leader of ShadowClan, he devised a plan to get rid of Thunderclan. He tried to lead a pack of dogs into the Thunderclan camp. Thunderclan found out about it and devised a plan to lure the dogs off a cliff. Thunderclan left the camp in case the dogs found their way in, and Bluestar went with while several other cats attempted to lead the dogs off the cliff. When she saw the strong helping the weak, she realized that her clan was not traitors and that Starclan had not abandoned her. She slipped out of sight to help Firestar and the others destroy the dog pack. She pushed the lead dog over a cliff into the river but the dog grabbed her and she went down with it. Firestar jumped in after her to save her, Mistyfoot and Stonefur saw Firestar struggling to pull Bluestar from the river and jumped in to help him. Bluestar died lying on the riverbank, and Oakheart came and brought her Starclan. Note: Bluestar knew she was going to die in water, Goosefeather, Thunderclan's old medicine cat, had a sign and told her when she was an apprentice that water would destroy her. She would have knew from star clan speaking to her!!
Why did Bluestar die?
Well, she was pulled into the river by the leader of a pack of dogs and started to drown so she died from taking in to much water and drowning. Although fireheart takes her out, she was on her way to starclan once she was on land and she spoke to stonefur, mistyfoot and fireheart before she went to hunt with starclan.

Cloudpaw dies in a battle with BloodClan, a group of rogue cats, while trying to protect Fireheart, the leader of ThunderClan. Despite his efforts, Cloudpaw is killed by one of the BloodClan cats, marking a tragic end to his young life.
Why did bluestar and Oakheart have to die Those were my favorite characters because Bluestar was such a good leader and Oakheart would do anything for Bluestar he was also a great Deputy?
We don't know. This is a better question to ask the Erin's. They were great cats but all cats have to go to StarClan. And without Fireheart becoming leader we don't know what would have happened to ThunderClan in the future.
