D DAY was the day the allies went to recapture france the battle following Dieppe In World War 2 in comparisson to WW1 in a sense dieppe was like the battle of the sommes and dday was like the battle of vimy ridge. Dieppe was a failure and the lessons learned lead to the success of Dday. Dday played an important part in the allies fate because the allies recaptured france who had fell to russia only 6 weeks into war. this marked the last battle in europe in ww2.
The vast majority of Canadians , both male and female, have played hockey at some level. Hockey is part of the very fabric of our culture. Hockey is not just a sport, it is part of who we are and what we do. But, obviously, not ALL Canadians play hockey. My wife, for example, born and raised in Canada, can't even skate!!!
The Canadians were the first allied forces to take a beach on dday and had moved further inland then any other force and Juno Beach was one of the most heavily defended beaches as well.
Season 2009-10-Their is 15 Canadians
Canadians play a large part in the story of Titanic. There were 49 Canadians scattered in the lifeboats, there are 209 Titanic victims buried in Halifax, and the furthest west any passengers are buried now is in Winnipeg.
