Lucas is a friend of Hanna's. The two originally meet in V Club, and started hanging out afterwards, much to the chagrin of Hanna's best friend, Mona. Lucas, a nerd, is hopelessly in love with Hanna, who doesn't return his feelings. When Caleb leaves town, Lucas convinces him to come back, and even lets Caleb stay at his house. The night of the masquerade ball, the girls see Lucas talking with Jenna and the Black Swan (who's later revealed to be Melissa), and after that night, he starts acting strange, from lighting papers on fire to snapping at his boss, Laurel.
