Gagging is the present participle of the verb to gag. It can be used with a form of to be to create the progressive verb tenses. It can also be used as a gerund (verbal noun) and an adjective.

Leah was gagging on sour milk when she decided to check the expiration date. (past progressive verb)

Gagging could lead to vomiting. (noun)

Leah is making gagging noises. (adjective)
