Obama represented the state of Illinois in the US Senate. He lived in Chicago, IL, and was elected to the state senate as someone from the district that includes Chicago. But in US federal politics (congress), a senator is from a state, rather than from a city.

The president comes from Chicago IL, and when he voted (before he became president), that is where he cast his votes. When he ran for the state senate, he served the 13th Congressional District.
As of my last update, the state representative for Deerfield, IL, is Daniel Didech. He is a member of the Democratic Party and represents the 59th district in the Illinois House of Representatives.
