Statistical analysis of the fossil record indicates somewhere around 35% of all species disappeared at the end of the cretaceous. (There is considerable margin for error in that figure--we don't have a good estimate for the number of species that exist today, even).

it really depends upon which mass extinction you are talking about, whether it be the gamma ray bursts 300 million years ago or the asteroid 65 million years ago

How many species have died since human evolution?

it is uncertain because there were some species that werent discovered since 2006 so who knows if some had died too?

Organisms that once lived on earth but all of their kind have died out a dead species?

A species that has entirely died out is considered extinct. An example of extinct species are the dodo, saber-tooth tigers, woolly mammoths, Canary Island giant rats, Cape lion, and the Red Rail.

How much time must pass before a species is considered extinct?

It actually doesn't matter the length of time. When the last animal of that specific species is dead, the the animal is proven to be extinct. Sometimes animals are thought to be extinct, then are re discovered, as the case of the ivory billed woodpecker in the U.S. It usually takes many years after the last sightings of an animal before it is declared extinct. In some cases the last known animal of a species is in a zoo so when that animal dies the species will be declared extinct. This was the case with the passenger pigeon which was hunted to extinction in the early 20th century. The last passenger pigeon died in the Cincinnati Zoo in 1914.

How are extinct alike to endanger?

They both start with E.they both are really are not alike. extinct means that they are no more. endangered means there are still left but rare.

Differentiaate between endangered species and threatened species?

Threatened means that the animal is vulnerable to extinction and the population of the animal is declining. (ex: Certain species of whale population are being threatened.) Endangered means that the animal will soon be extinct if nothing is done about it. Some endangered animals are being bred in captivity until their numbers increase enough to be released back in the wild. (ex: Bald Eagles are an endangered species of bird. Pandas are an endangered species of bear.) Extinct means that the animal has completely died out and there aren't any left of this species. (ex: Dinosaurs are an extinct species of reptile. Dodo is an extinct bird.) Here's a visual: Threatened-------------> Endangered---------------> Extinct

What event marks the end of both the Paleozoic Era and Mesozoic Era?

The Permian-Triassic (P-Tr) Extinction Event is widely recognised as the greatest extinction event on Earth. It is also known as the "Great Dieing".It occurred 251 million years ago marking the end of the Permian Period and the start of the Triassic Period. It also marks the end of the Paleozoic Era and the start of the Mesozoic Era. Estimates have suggested that 96% of marine species and 70% percent of land vertebrate species became extinct. It is also the only known mass extinction of insect with 56% of insect families and 83% of insect genera becoming extinct.Little is known of the cause of the mass extinction but theories range from meteorite impacts, to volcanism, to sea level fluctuations.
