∙ 13y agoConsidering tropical rainforest only, the most widely repeated figure is 6-7% of Earth's dry land area, therefore around 2% of Earth's total surface. This does not take into account subtropical or temperate forest areas that are reasonably also "rainforests".
There is no authoritative answer to this question, because what is and is not "rainforest" comes down to personal taste.
