DDT, the pesticide was ultimately banned as a result of Rachel Carson"s environmental shocker. It may be argued the once-popular ( trick) song Green Fields- which starts out as a low intensity description of what seems to be a drought or an environmental disaster ( like the silent spring) , but as the song develops, the parched out green fields are a metaphor for lost love- and the song does end hopefully! a cool song with an environmental side lobe.
