Dimnaliphobia is a fear or phobia of pins and needles commonly known as "tactile defensiveness". Individuals with this phobia may experience discomfort or anxiety when touching or being touched by objects or surfaces that evoke a sensation similar to pins and needles. Treatment may involve therapy or desensitization techniques to reduce the fear response.
The irrational fear is called a phobia; the experience or object that triggers a phobia could be called a phobic experience or object.
