When they first saw Canada they saw Flat and Rocky so they called it Helluland, likely Baffin Island. Then they sailed south and saw a land with many Trees so they called it Markland, likely Labrador. They continued south and found a lovely valley with many grapes so they named it Vinland. Likely Newfoundland. Obviously the climate was much warmer than today because Newfoundland is not nearly as warm these days.
As for Greenland, I believe they saw the lush green valleys they eventually settled in, and since there were no one there before them they became the Indigenous or Aboriginals, the First Nations, of Greenland.
it is icy with fjords and glaciers. it is very cold
Hello
No, there were no black Vikings
982 a.D.
It depends where in Canada you are. But in general, I believe Canada to be colder because some of Nunavut's islands are extremely close to the North Pole. Closer to the North pole than Greenland. As well, a greater amount of area is close to the North Pole than Greenland it to the North Pole. I may not be 100% right about this though.

The vikings connection between Greenland is that they came from Greenland
The Greenlanders of germanic blood are descendants of Norwegian vikings who arrived there around 1000 AD, under the command of Eirik Raude. Greenland was under Norway's rule from 1261 to 1814.
The vikings told the europeans that they were going to Iceland. And by 'Iceland' they ment the small island by Greenland. At the time Greenland didn't have its name, so the europeans went to Greenland because the vikings described it as 'Iceland' and since Greenland is a very icy island. When they arrived, there were no vikings found. It was the other way around_the vikings went to Iceland, they must have named the smaller island Iceland to trick the europeans to go to Greenland.
