There are many places to hide outside.

You could hide:

1. in a bush
2. behind a bush
3. between two bushes
4. under a bush
5. in tall grass
6. between two cars
7. under a car
8. in a hole
9. in a ditch
10. up on a tree (with plenty of leaves)
11. on the roof
12. in a pile of leaves
13. in the mud
14. in a pond; or
15. behind a tall hill.

to name just a few. Now, if you were at a park, then you could hide:

1. in the round slides
2. on a slide
3. in a tunnel
4. under a car
5. in a ditch
6. in a hole
7. up on a tree
8. in the mud
9. in a pond
10. between some cars
11. in a bush
12. between two bushes
13. behind a tree
14. in tall grass
15. under a bush
16. behind a bush; or
17. behind a tall hill.

And if you were at a nature preserve, you could hide:

1. in a bush
2. behind a bush
3. between two bushes

All ways to hide above this are correct. However, if the preceding was not what you are looking for, ask yourself a few questions.

1. What lengths am I willing to take to hide? Are you willing to risk life and limb to give yourself the ultimate hidden hiding place? Get down and dirty? Use scube gear to stay underwater as long as possible?

2. Who or what are you hiding from? If you are hiding from a that 10 year old bully who has the attention span of a peanut, run off and hide for a few moments. He will probably lose interest. Hiding from the FBI? That's a bit tougher.

3. The situation you're in. This ties into the previous question. If this is a game of hide and seek (tag), and your opponent doesn't like to lose, don't expect an easy victory. You might have to get creative with your hiding spots. If you are on the run for stealing gold, from Fort Knox... what the heck are you doing reading this answer? You should still be running and hiding.

4. Your surrondings and where you 'can't be'. Let's say your playing hide and seek tag, because that is the most understandable scenario to be hiding from someone. Let's say your playing in a school yard. School yard's don't have a lot of places to hide. But some key words of advice is never corner yourself. Probably the worst thing you can do. Always leave an alternative option to escape your pursuer. Also, let's say your in the school yard, where do you think the kids last place will look? There's a few places, parking lot, inside the school, behind the dumpster. All have one thing in common. You shouldn't be there. And therefore, most people will avoid it because the thought goes like this. "Ok, must search everywhere. But they can't be in the school, we would get in trouble." Once again, if you're in trouble with the law, the most unsuspecting place to hide is where you don't belong or is impossible to get to.

5. Mind games. Sometimes, you can win a game of hide and seek tag without much effort. The normal thought is to never stop and keep running as far as you can from the one who is 'IT'. Use this thought process to your advantage. While I can't come up with a specific example for hide and seek tag, let's say your a little kid and you don't want to take a bath. The best place to hide? In the bath tub. Last place any one will look for something who doesn't want to take a bath is in the bathtub. (Special credit goes to Creator of Calvin and Hobbes for making a comic about that)

6. The choice. Run or hide? Crucial to a game of cat and mouse. Choosing the right time to run, and right time to hide, will give the pursuer a sense of hopelessness after a while. Making him say those ever so satisfying words, "Olly olly oxen free!" But if he sees you just "once", expect the timer on that hopelessness feeling to be extended double or even triple.
