No. Mars and Earth never collided. Around 4.6 billion years ago another planet is believed to have collided with Earth, resulting in the formation of the moon. This planet, known as Theia, was probably about the same size as Mars.
if a planet was close to earth it would cause earthquakes and more. if it collided if earth depending on the size if it is big it will collide with earth.
There used to be a theory that another, twin Earth could be orbitting the sun, exactly opposite from us and therefore always invisible. In fact because the Earth's orbit is an ellipse, its impossible for a body to orbit the sun and always be invisible. For now, astronomers and scientists think Venus is Earth's twin.

The earth as planet was discovered by some of the ancient astronomers. Nicolaus Copernicus and Ptolemy are credited with provision of the initial information of the earth as a planet in relation to the solar system.
