There is a short growing season in the polar region. The only plants that grow there are lichens, mosses, liverworts, and some arctic willows.

none. due to the permafrost, plants have no anchorage and the growing season is much too short. along the edge of the northern cap, there is the tree line, a really distinct line that conifer trees stop growing due to the one or two degree difference. in the southern cap, no plants grow. Antarctica is just ice and will always remain just ice.
