Sometimes the plays give us some indication of the appearance of the actor playing the part. For example, Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream is described as short and dark, and Helena as tall and fair, which must have been the description of the boys who played those parts. However, we are not really sure which parts Shakespeare played, and those we think he probably played, like the Ghost in Hamlet, Henry IV in those plays, and Adam in As You Like It, do not contain a lot of information about the character's appearance (And in the case of the Ghost, he probably wore a lot of makeup). We know more about what Shakespeare looked like from the two authenticated pictures of him.
