What coil goes to what cylinder
I was looking at one of the Ford websites and for a 1995 and 1996 Ford Escort , with the 1.9 liter four cylinder engine it shows the same part number ( Motorcraft DG-435 ) for the coil * so in short , I would say the answer is ( YES )
On a 1996 Ford Escort , 1.9 liter four cylinder engine : The 4 towers on the ignition coil pack are numbered : 4 - 3 1 - 2 coil pack plug * the coil pack tower numbers are by the 4 bolt holes * it takes Motorcraft part number DG-435
The coil for the four cylinder is on the top of the valve cover. The coil on the six cylinder is inside the distributor.
need a new coil or coil wire if you are getting power to the coil
I'm not a mechanic / technician but it sounds like one of the two coils in the coil pack is not firing ( assuming that the # 1 and # 3 coil pack towers use the same coil )
Could be that side of the coil is burned out.
coil pack, ecm pcu
Swap the suspected coil with another cylinder that is firing correctly. If the original cylinder that was missing now runs fine and the other cylinder is now missing, you have determined the suspected coil is bad. Replace it with a new one.
farthest to the left 1234...2314 on the coil pack
coil---3---4 pack--2---6 plug---1---5
What year, which V8?
coil pack #3 should be atop # 3 cylinder
