we respect the rights of others by allowing them to be themselves and not trying to infringe our beliefs on them. Giving them the right to be themselves and room to grow into the person they are meant to be. we can't push our ways and beliefs on others because if the shoe were on the other foot we wouldn't like it either. respect is something that i believe doesn't have to be earned. trust is giving to someone else your heart, deepest thoughts, and secrets. respect and trust are two different things. i believe trust is something earned. others show through actions and speech if they are they type of person that can be trusted or not. then sometimes we can be fooled. when a person shows signs of weakness and emotional problems there are those that are attracted to that kind of persons needyness. then we let go of too much of ourselves and our privacy to them because we think that we are helping them. we aren't helping we are only creating a situation where they become too dependant on us. we find ourselves getting too close developing relationships where someone ends up getting hurt. usually that person ends up being you because you've shared too much. even though it's difficult to respect someone of this caliber because they've betrayed you or used you. the only way to show them respect is to do only so much and let go so they can find the path of their life through professional help. getting to close and giving too much depleats you of your own self respect. so respect usually comes for others when we can learn to respect ourselves. Gods word says to love our neighbor as ourselves. loving ourselves is the unselfish way of saying i respect myself, therefore i can give others respect also. so give others respect to be themselves allowing them the room to find the answers to life through the word of God which is the only true way, or they choose another. we have no control over their choices only how we respond to them and what choices we are going to make as to if we will continue to hanging around allowing ourselves to slip into their lifestyle, or depart from them on a good note knowing that their way isn't healthy for our emotional, physical, and spiritual life.
