In the context of lunar phases, the waxing phase includes positions from the new moon (position 0) to the full moon (position 14), which corresponds to the first quarter (position 7) and the waxing gibbous. The waning phase follows, starting from the full moon (position 14) to the next new moon (position 28), including the last quarter (position 21) and the waning crescent.
Waning gibbous caused by the sunlight of the sun causes all the phases, it changh like a waxing gibbous and waning gibbous in the moon phases.
Waning gibbous, Third Quarter and Waning Crescent are the 'waning' moon phases.
The different appearances of the moon are called phases. There are eight primary moon phases, including new moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, third quarter, and waning crescent.
Waxing and waning.
On Earth, someone would most likely see less then half of a moon.
Waxing crescent, waxing gibbous, waning gibbous, waning crescent, new moon.
The phases of the moon are:-new moon -waxing crescent-waxing quarter-waxing gibbous-full moon-waning gibbous-waning quarter-waning crescent... and so on.Please Note:~waxing means that the right side of the moon is lit up~waning means that the left side of the moon is lit upThe phases of the moon are caused by the position of the moon relative to Earth. A half of the moon is always lit up by the sun, and in each phase we see a different part of that half-lit moon.
Full, New, Quarter, Waning/ Waxing Gibbous, Waning/ Waxing Crescent, and Half.

New moon, waxing moon, first quarter and waxing gibbous are moon phases. Additional moon phases include full moon, waning gibbous, third quarter and waning crescent.
The eight moon phases are New Moon, Waxing Crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full Moon, Waning Gibbous, Third Quarter, and Waning Crescent. These phases represent the different stages in the lunar cycle as viewed from Earth.
