The War of 1812 had a positive impact on trading in the US in several ways. Firstly the US was able to gain more economic freedom from Great Britain which had been blocking US trading with France. This allowed the US to trade with France and other countries leading to increased economic growth. Additionally the war led to the establishment of protective tariffs in the US which enabled the US to protect its domestic industry from competition from foreign goods. This helped to ensure that US businesses could compete on a level playing field with foreign businesses. Finally the war led to the establishment of the US Navy which provided protection for US trading ships in the Atlantic and Caribbean allowing US merchants to safely conduct trade without fear of attack.
