To filter any particles out of the fluid. Any transmission will wear and this wear creates metal particles and band material. The filter holds these and prevents them from being recirculated throughout the transmission. To filter any particles out of the fluid. That would depend on how much fluid was removed. Was it a typical fluid and filter replacement or was the transmission removed. If the tranny was not removed. always start with about 4 to 6 quarts. If the transmission has been removed and the torque converter drained, then about 8 to 10 quarts.
most manuel transmissions hve a filter, to get at the filter the oilpan needs to be removed from bottom of transmission
Yes, it does! You need to drain the fluid, remove the 15 screws on the transmission pan (be careful, it will still have fluid even after the draining) in order to get to the filter. The filter is rectangular shaped and can be easily removed by taking out 3 bolts. Note the location of the bolts as they have different lengths!!
The transmission pan has to be removed. There is no drain. lower one corner to let fluid drain into a pan. After the pan has been removed, take out the filter and replace. Reinstall the pan with a new gasket.
Well if you're doing your standard fluid/filter change, just measure how much you removed, and replace that much.
the filter is located inside the transmission fluid pan. There is often a drain plug which will allow the transimission fluid to be drained out. From there the pan is held on by numerous bolts which circle the pan. Once removed the filter is located inside. You will need a new gasket to go on when you re install the pan. Also new transmission fluid.
The transmission fluid fill cap on a 1989 Chevy school bus with a diesel engine is under the air filter. The air filter has to be removed to see it.
Inside the transmission. Most Honda transmission filters are non servicable. The transmission must be removed to change the filter. By the time the filter needs changing, the transmission needs rebuilding. Change the fluid and forget the filter.
There is not one. The transmission pan must be removed to change transmission fluid and filter.
NEVER flush a transmission with an internal replaceable filter. The pan should be dropped, the gasket removed and replaced and the filter carefully removed to replace (do NOT leave the filter neck seal in the valve body chamber when removing the original filter). You can flush the rest of the fluid with the new filter installed, but why?
There is a twist & remove dip stick underneath the air filter housing. The air filter housing has to be removed to see it.
