Without giving too much away: Roald Dahl's book "Matilda" is about a young girl with extraordinary intelligence and talents, whose family does not appreciate her. But yeah in the end she goes to live with her teacher Miss honey since her dad is in trouble with the police and moves the rest of the family to Cuba i think.

Her family is envolved in illegal car deal and Matilda is learning through the depths of modern and historic literature. It takes a run in with the law to separate Matilda from her inferior family.
