It helped make life easier by letting people use less arrows on others and it would usually completely annihilate the enemy unless the person who shot the arrow missed/ the enemy dodged or the enemy somehow survived/ was saved. and for the other guy we are talking about ancient china not modern where they use only bow and arrow here is part of an article that I have in social studies class that shows you what I mean"Gunpowder is a chemical explosive made from sulfur, charcoal, and the natural chemical compound saltpeter, Small packages of gunpowder were wrapped in paper or bamboo and were then attached to arrows These packages would be lit with a fuse so that the arrow was flammable."

Gunpowder was important because it allowed the Chinese to make weapons that not only had a farther range and power than regular weapons, but it also added a psychological effect that intimidated the enemy from the noise and explosion. The Ming Dynasty even went to the extent of censoring gunpowder in Chinese encyclopedias so that way if one were ever to fall in the hands of an enemy, namely the Mongols, they would not be able to copy it and produce their own gunpowder.
