Besides solving the economic recession, I think the American people were hoping that Ford would help to restore faith in our government, after the nightmare of Watergate. The American people were very cynical about its leaders and politics in general. Ford was looked upon as a good and decent man. They knew he wasn't another Nixon. I think history will judge Ford as one of the greatest Presidents we have had in over 100 years. He restored faith in our institutions and his decision to pardon Nixon, has proved to be the right decision after all. He and his wonderful wife, Betty, were class acts and did much to improve the lives of people.
