well, he was kidnapped from america, taken back to his home, Russia, and was imprisoned for no known reason for many years. then, after being in prison, he was purposfully hidden from the public's eye. when he began teaching music again at a music conservatory, the correspondant of the new york times happened to find him there and he was shocked. he wrote to the new york times that leon was alive and well. since the conservatory didn't want anything to do with the officials, they kicked leon out of the conservatory and destroyed his instruments with an axe.
