Sahara Desert
Deforestation, droughts, desertification and more
You can find them most often in the Sahel Desert in Africa.
The savanna is a grassy plain with scattered trees, while the Sahel is a semiarid region between the Sahara Desert and the savanna. The Sahel is drier than the savanna and experiences more frequent droughts.
Africa is the continent that typically experiences the most frequent and severe droughts due to its varied climate and geographical features, such as the Sahara desert and the Sahel region.
The monsoons can cause flooding and landslides, but if there is too little rain, it can cause droughts.
The Sahel is zone of transition in Africa between the Sahara Desert to the north and the Savanna grasslands to the south. As such it has a semi arid climate (it is half desert!). Therefore it is almost permanently in drought.
It has short wet seasons and long dry seasons. Rainfall decreased. It is very hot so there are droughts.

Some notable droughts include the Sahel drought in Africa in the 1970s and 1980s, the California drought from 2012-2016, and the Australian Millennium drought from 1997-2009. These droughts had significant impacts on agriculture, water resources, and local communities.
