If the gunshot is between the neck and the belly buton, you would put a occlusive dressing (generally a 4x4 wrapper). Since you cannot stop the bleeding, you CAN control it, and that is what a occlusive dressing will do. The person below me knows what he is talking, but he didn't specify HOW you would treat or control the bleeding. A occlusive dressing is to prevent a sucking chest wound from sucking in a air embolism. If the gunshot wound is on the side of you abdomen, you would tape all sides of it, leaving the bottom side to let the blood drain, that way you won't build up any interior pressure possibly making a hemothorax, a hemo-pneumothorax, tension thorax, or a spontaneous thorax.First the Initial assesment which entails: 1. Control any obious life threats (possibly severe bleeding) 2. Assess and maintain the airway. Make sure the patient has a clear airway and in he is unconcious, insert an airway adjunct to maintain it. Suction the airway if there is fluid. 2. Assess Breathing. Make sure the patient is breathing, is breathing adequatley, chest rise is deep enough and equal, and there are no flail segments (peices of broken ribs). If the patient is not breathing, artificially ventilate the patient or provide oxygen if breathing is adequate. Listen with stethoscope (auscultate) for 2 breath sounds. 3. Asses circulation. Feel for a pulse and check quality (rapid/slow weak/strong and regular/irregular) Look at skin to asses perfusion. Skin should be warm and dry, if not treat for shock. Check for any severe bleeding. Once all of these are stablized, transport. While enroute, give the patient a rapid physical exam from head to toe to look for any abnormalities. Take baseline vital signs and repeat every 5 mins Try to get a history of the incident/patient medical history Monitor patient

This is a general answer to a general question. Firstly, protect the airway. Ensure there is adequate breathing, if not use of a bag-valve-mask to provide artificial ventilations. Controlling the bleed would depend on where the wound is, but generally you would apply direct pressure, and elevate (if it is an extremity). If it has pierced the lungs you would secure a flutter valve over the wound and possibly prepare for a chest tube. Monitor vital signs and use fluids/drugs that were ordered as well as any tests (e.g. chest x-ray).

What would normal vital signs be for a victim of chest gunshot wound?

If they are normal, they would be the same as if the wound was not there at all. But there is nothing that would be normal with gunshot wound. It would depend on where the wound is and how much blood is lost.

Is it requirement that staff follow hygiene procedures set out in the food safety plan?

Yes. If it wouldn't be required of staff to follow the established procedures, there would be no point in having a food safety plan.

Is there any point performing CPR on a gunshot victim?

# How large is the wound? # What type of damage has the gunshot caused? # Is there any arterial bleeding or veinous only? # How long ago was the victim shot? # How much blood has the victim already lost? # Can the bleeding be controlled? All these questions would provide different scenarios as to whether or not the victim has any chance at all of surviving the gunshot. In most cases if the victim has been shot and there is arterial damage the victim will bleed out in too short a time to allow for any resuscitation. However, if the bleeding can be controlled then it might be possible to save them. If this information cannot be determined then it is always better to ere on the side of caution and attempt CPR. If the victim is dead you aren't going to hurt them by performing CPR, however, if they stand a chance at survival CPR might be the one crucial piece in giving them enough time to get to the hospital where they can receive professional medical attention. ---- As a First responder, it is not your decision to decide whether to do CPR or not - if the patient is not breathing and has no pulse the first aider will perform CPR regardless of the injuries, (give the patient the benifit of the doubt, give them a chance of living)!

What is the medical term on gunshot wounds on the head?

Gunshot wound to the head. On a medical chart this would be documented as... pt c/o GSW to head (patient complains of gunshot wound to the head). There would be other terminology to describe it. Where it entered or exited and what other trauma is present...but yeah...just...gunshot wound to the head.

Will a hospital turn me in when i have a gunshot wound for a warrent over Felony FTA?

The hospital would not know whether you have a warrant or not. However, they will probably call the police to come investigate the gunshot wound, and the police would then find out about the warrant.
