Moonshell
MoonShell is a homebrew multimedia player for the Nintendo DS dual-screen handheld video game system. It is one of the most well known pieces of Nintendo DS homebrew software, and as of December 2006, one of the few ways to play video on the DS.

Other software exists for this, but I recommend MoonShell. The R4DS firmware alone cannot play music.
mp3 can be played directly without moonshell with an Acekard. DSi can also play AAC

First, you'll need to have MoonShell, which is already included with the R4DS Firmware, and a video file (not all extensions work, i think MPG/MPEG files work best) Then, you'll have to download a DPG encoder if you don't have one, which comes included with downloading moonshell (Moonshell 2 beta doesn't seem to work on my r4ds but it has all of the tools) Then find and run dpgenc.exe If it's in japanese, the third menu will have a selection between ENG and JAP. Drag and drop the video file onto the program and it should automatically convert (with output shown at the top of the program). It does about 4 steps to finish the file, so be patient! Then move the file to anywhere on your microSD card, launch moonshell using the middle button on the R4DS menu, then find and load your file and if everything is ok then it should launch!
Buy an R4DS, download the games for free, and with the R4 data, (which you also need to download) there should be a file called Moonshell, (there are many different improved versions of Moonshell, so if it says Moonshell 2 or 3 or higher, it means you have an improved version) and as long as it is there, you will have your DS cheat data for as many free games as you want.
Moonshell may not work due to several reasons, including compatibility issues with the device or firmware, corrupted files, or improper installation. Additionally, if the necessary media files or formats are not supported, it could lead to functionality problems. Ensuring that you have the correct version and following installation instructions closely can often resolve these issues. If problems persist, checking community forums for troubleshooting tips can also be beneficial.
