Various types of lifestyle programming are often offered in conjunction with EAP's. Lifestyle programming or workplace health promotion programs are classified into three categories: screening, education and behavioral change. These types of programs may offer such choices as on site fitness facilities or subsidy programs. Components of an effective employee-sponsored health promotion should include employee education for health promotion/disease prevention and management training. Examples of Lifestyle programs would be smoking cessation, hypertension screening, nutrition, weight control and physical fitness programs.
Health education and health promotion are closely related concepts that aim to improve public health. Health education involves providing individuals and communities with information and skills to make informed health choices, while health promotion focuses on creating environments and policies that support healthy behaviors. Together, they empower people to take control of their health and encourage societal changes that facilitate healthier lifestyles. Ultimately, both aim to enhance overall well-being and reduce health disparities.

Health maintenance and health promotion both aim to improve overall well-being and prevent disease, but they focus on different aspects. Health maintenance primarily involves regular check-ups, vaccinations, and screenings to manage existing conditions and prevent complications. In contrast, health promotion emphasizes lifestyle changes, education, and community initiatives to encourage healthy behaviors and enhance quality of life. While they share the goal of fostering better health outcomes, their approaches and specific activities differ.
