Tried unsuccessfully to remove Castro
He made peace
During the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962, President John F. Kennedy and Premier Nikita Khrushchev reached an agreement to de-escalate tensions. The U.S. agreed to publicly declare and enforce a policy of non-invasion of Cuba, while the Soviet Union agreed to dismantle its missile installations in Cuba and withdraw the missiles. Additionally, the U.S. secretly agreed to remove its Jupiter missiles from Turkey, although this was not part of the public agreement. This resolution helped avoid a potential nuclear conflict.
The Cold War is a reference to something else, not literally cold, but because no shots were ever fired. The Cold War was a race to the moon, and to who could make the most nuclear weapons fastest. Hope I helped.
US President Nixon believed it was unnecessary to consult the US Congress on his decision to bomb Cambodia during the Vietnam War. His rational was the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. In that case, President Kennedy did not consult with the Congress on his decisions regarding Cuba and the USSR. Nixon claimed that the Vietnam War was in itself a crisis and as Commander in Chief, he could make major policy changes without consulting with Congress.
He was the president of the United States. Many people remember him for his speech declaring that America would make it to the moon before the end of the 1960s. One of his major victories was in the Cuban Missile Crisis. The USSR had nuclear missiles aimed at the US from Cuba (I think). After speaking with the leaders of Soviet Russia, full-scale nuclear war was averted. There are other things but I cannot think of them.

Kenedy faced challenges from the spread of communism and the continuing threat of nuclear war. He was enthusiastic and committed to change. This lead to his being able to achieve the first agreement with the soviet union limiting nuclear testing.
The Cuban Missile Crisis was a confrontation between the Soviet Union, Cuba and the United States in October 1962, during the Cold War. In September 1962, the Cuban and Soviet governments began to surreptitiously build bases in Cuba for a number of medium- and intermediate-range ballistic nuclear missiles with the ability to strike most of the continental United States. On October 14, a United States U-2 photo-reconnaissance plane captured photographic proof of Soviet missile bases under construction in Cuba. The Americans feared the Soviet expansion of Stalinism, but for a Latin American country to ally openly with the USSR was regarded as unacceptable, given the Soviet-American enmity since the end of the WWII in 1945. Such an involvement would also directly defy the Monroe Doctrine, a United States policy which held that European powers should not interfere with states in the Western Hemisphere.
