Some people do think life without parole in solitary confinement is worse than capital punishment. Since you would have to be alone for the rest of your life.
The term that refers to the release of an individual from punishment is "parole." Parole is a period of supervised release granted to prisoners after they have served a portion of their sentence in prison. It allows them to serve the remainder of their sentence in the community, under certain conditions and supervision.
It depends entirely on the severity of the violation, the punitive nature of the parole officer in charge, and several other variables. Assume the worst though, and expect to be returned to prison for any parole violation.
Incarceration is an extremely expensive way to be humane to killers and terrorists. Capital punishment only "costs" more to the condemned and their families.
It depends on where you live. In some states of the United States, the punishment for committing murder is death; in other states, the punishment is life in prison with no possibility of parole.
